Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire battled it out against the former world titlist Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. for the WBO Junior Featherweight Title that was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas last February 5, 2012.
The fight which was being dubbed as “Welcome to the Future” will be aired on ABS-CBN. Donaire holds the title as “three division world champion” will go up on higher weight to fight against the former champion who dominated Junior Featherweight Category.
The Filipino Flash will try to put his clean record of 27-1-0 18 KO’s and his 26-winning streak to fight against the much heavier Vasquez with a record of 21-1-1 18 KO’s.
The Puerto Rican fighter is familiar to Filipino boxing aficionados and was credited as the boxer who defeated fellow Filipino and Gen. Santos native Marvin Sonsona last 2010. Vasquez defended his crown two times before bowing down to Mexican fighter Jorge Arce in 2011.
